This project constructs HOV lanes (northbound and southbound) on SR 167 from 15th Street Northwest in Auburn to SR 410 in Pierce County (requires $50 million from Pierce County). The project also builds auxiliary lanes (northbound and southbound) between SR 516 and South 277th Street, and adds a lane in each direction from 84th Avenue South in Kent to South 180th Street in Renton, were the project connects with planned improvements included in the I-405 project.

Benefits:

  • The project adds capacity and makes operational improvements that will increase traffic flow and reduce delay.
  • Additional HOV lanes improve transit efficiency, speed and reliability.
  • Promotes ridesharing and carpools.
  • Suggested improvements in this package would complement implementation of High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes on SR 167.
